This year continues to be a year of well thought out and considered weddings, couples are diving deep into what they really want to say on their wedding day. Fewer couples are planning large extravagant over-the-top weddings and opting for smaller more considered ceremonies or elopements.
We can’t underestimate the impact of the global pandemic on weddings, it wasn’t that long ago you didn’t need to send a save-the-date card, now we’re seeing a new trend “change-of-date” cards. For couples impacted by lockdowns and restrictions. Weddings aren’t going to stop, but they will certainly be different to how they’ve always been. Here are our top trends for your spring wedding in 2021.
Mid-Week Ceremonies
With so many couples having to postpone and reschedule their weddings in 2020 we will see a rise in mid-week celebrations this spring. Due to the limited number of weekends available at venues and for vendors including celebrants. The coveted Saturday being booked well in advance, Fridays have quickly become the next most popular option in 2021 we expect to see more of this as the year closes.
Long Weekends of Love
As Friday’s become more popular we are also seeing a rise in full-weekend wedding with couples and their guests electing to make a weekend of spending time with their loved ones, after not being able to see them for much of 2020 or just as a mini vacy from responsibilities.
It’s Party Time
With guest numbers changing, sometimes it feels like on the daily, many couples are choosing to elope with the plan to hold a “wedding party” when COVID restrictions allow for more guests. We expect to see these start taking place in the warmer months of spring as much of the country opens up (sorry Victoria and New South Wales readers, we love you).
Increased Focus on Videography
As guests numbers stay limited across the country many couples are putting more emphasis on videography than ever before. Not only to capture moving memories of a couple’s special day but to include those guests who cannot be there on the day. Whether it be streaming the ceremony LIVE or just to capture the day to send on later, we are seeing couples invest in wedding videography alongside their photography moving into Spring.
Support Local
Small business has been hit hard by the pandemic suffering blow after blow. Couples (and consumers in general) are hyper aware of this and we are predicting that couples are more willing to support the little guy through their purchasing decisions. Choosing to source things locally makes sense, you get the added advantage of your supplier being near by to talk to and discuss your needs and ideas.
